Hamilton Facing the Music after His Release

A jail term has never been pleasant for anyone. What is less so is the period after the convicts are released. If you thought that the things are different for those in the limelight, think again. For the Harlem-bred singer, Charles Hamilton, the jail term has been as much a trouble as the release period. He was arrested in the late 2010 on charges of assault after he lost his deal with Interscope Records in 2009.

After his release in the early 2011, he spent many months cooped up in his home in Ohio. Then he travelled the entire United States trying to connect back with his fans who had been saying and writing "some pretty harsh things" about him while he was serving his sentence. Even releasing free music did not help in repairing his reputation since all he could get was criticism from people who were his “devoted” fans even days before his arrest.

This response further depressed him and it took him a lot of time to come back and face his audience. Again, he was not able to explain the nuances of the case and the suit and the real reason why he had to serve a sentence. It is still unclear for the Hamilton fans how long it is going to take before he permanently comes back in the limelight. To this he has replied, "I like being able to step in and out of the spotlight".

Hamilton has considered entering into fresh contracts with other companies. But he has vowed to be more specific about the terms of the contract since the experience has taught him a very important lesson in life. The main issue that Hamilton faced in the case of the Interscope Records was that he did not understand the majority of what went on in the company.
