The Checklist for Your First Christmas Party

Christmas parties are great fun as long as you are the guest or your mom is the host and you have to do what you are being told and nothing else. But now that you have a house and a family of your own, you are the hostess who will be throwing the party. So you have to make sure that it is as perfect as possible. Here is a checklist that you can follow.

A month before the party:
  • Make a guest list and send out the invitation. Send out cards, e-mails and make phone calls.
  • Decide on a theme and start looking for decorations that might go with the theme.
  • Decide on the menu.
  • If there are people who might help, call them up. Make the bookings especially if you are planning on hiring an artist or a band for the party.

15 days before the party:
  • Clean the utensils, china and the glassware that you will be using.
  • Decide on a list of games or list of songs to be played.
  • Start shopping for grocery and preparing food stuffs that can be frozen

7 days before:
  • Clean the house completely
  • Arrange the furniture. Set the stage if you need one
  • Check if you need to hire dishes or any other utensils for the party. If yes, then hire them now.

72 hours before:
  • Tell your neighbors about the party and what they can expect loud noise, heavy parking etc.
  • Start the decorations especially if there is a theme for your party.
  • Check your stock of emergency medicines.
  • Keep cleaning materials where you can reach it easily but out of sight.
  • Finish any last minute shopping.

24 hours before:
  • Set the tables or the buffets
